A trio at the Bay

By Ian Townsend

Bola Dawodu, Kane Rowland and Daniel Carrington are 'new' at Herne Bay

Herne Bay last night announced three new arrivals as they prepare for another tilt at Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion- although two of them will be rather familiar.

Bola Dawodu, a midfielder, spent last season playing in the Premier Division at one of Bay's relegation rivals, Bowers and Pitsea. He made forty appearances- but prior to that he was a big part of Bay's promotion winning side, playing eleven matches towards the end of the 21-22 campaign. He came through the ranks at Faversham Town, and has also played for Canterbury City, Sittingbourne and Whitstable Town. He was also with Bay during the unfinished 19-20 and 20-21 campaigns.

Kane Rowland spent last season narrowly failing to get promotion with Ramsgate, scoring ten goals. He signed for the Rams- his third spell with the club, after he was confirmed as leaving Sittingbourne last September.

Rowland joined the Brickies from Ramsgate for the 2017-18 season, and scored eighteen goals that campaign. He then moved on to Folkestone Invicta, moved briefly back to Sittingbourne on loan, and then almost immediately joined the Rams once more! He made fourteen appearances for Ramsgate during 2018-19, scoring three times, and got another thirteen goals in forty one appearances in the truncated 2019-20 campaign, before returning to Woodstock Park for 2020-21.

He managed a very impressive six goals in eight appearances before the world shut down again, and then managed seven in forty one appearances during the 21-22 campaign.

He previously played for Whitstable Town and Margate.

Daniel Carrington was with Faversham Town last season, but the defender/midfielder was stricken with injury and managed only six matches for the Lilywhites. He had previously spent a number of seasons with Faversham, but was with Bay as they won promotion in 21-22, making thirty one appearances, after first joining them midway through the first pandemic-hit campaign. Hew has also played for Ramsgate, and came through the Academy at Ebbsfleet United.
