AB1 Golden Gloves Awards- October 2021

By Ian Townsend

Here are the winners of our October Golden Gloves Awards, sponsored by the fabulous folks at AB1 Goalkeeping

It’s time to recognise our best defences of October! Please note, the outcomes are all calculated on statistics in league matches.

Here we go:

Premier Division

We’re starting just off junction 24 of the M25, and heading to Potters Bar Town. The Scholars had a super October, conceding only one goal in the League and winning every match. They also won in the FA Trophy and kept a clean sheet there, too- we thought we’d mention it even if we can’t count it towards this result! Hafed Al Droubi picks up a pair of fabulous new gloves.

North Division

Another side who conceded only one goal during October is Grays Athletic, who continued their fine start to the season by delivering three League victories to ensure that Canvey Island had to work hard to stay top. Danny Sambridge is their number one, so congratulations to Danny and his parsimonious defence.

South Central Division

We’re off to the end of the runway again- perhaps we should just book a Heathrow hotel and be done with it? Bedfont Sports had a phenomenal October across all competitions, and we’ve already handed their boss the Manager of the Month Award to follow the Performance Award they won last month, and now their high-performing defence is also taking plaudits. Dimitrios Kyriatzis has had a superb season so far, so both credit and a lovely pair of gloves are his due.

South East Division

We’re taking our second trip of the day to the Kent seaside, but a different seaside, as this time we’re off to Herne Bay. October saw Bay keep three clean sheets and concede not a single league goal, which helped them to seven points from nine and a climb into the top five. Jordan Perrin was their number one and his October was all rise and no fall! Congratulations to Jordan and his fabulous back four.

Thanks to AB1 Goalkeeping for being our sponsors. You can take a look at their magnificent products- and they don’t just sell gloves- by heading HERE.

Premier League winner and international goalkeeper Asmir Begovic will be best known for his work between the posts, particularly for Stoke City, Chelsea and AFC Bournemouth. But he also has his own company- AB1 Goalkeeping- who provide magnificent products for discerning goalkeepers everywhere- and we are lucky enough to have them as sponsors of our Golden Gloves Award. As they explain:

'AB1 Goalkeeping was the brainchild of one of the Premier League’s leading goalkeepers, Asmir Begovic. With his 15 years’ experience playing at the highest levels of top-flight international football, plus a development team with over 20 years’ experience of developing first-class goalkeeping products, we have a range of equipment to suit all levels of the game, from Grass Roots Football to the Premier League.'
