BetVictor Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2019/20; Basildon United

It’s our final supporters prediction before the Step Four kick off, and we’re off to Basildon.

We asked supporters of our BetVictor Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Andrew Buxton is on hand to tell us all about the world of Basildon United.

1. What was your favourite moment of last season?

Andrew of Basildon

Andrew of Basildon

When we beat Soham Town Rangers 2-1 and we knew we were safe for another season in the North Division.

2. And your worst moment?

After a great start to the season we heard the news that our manager had quit and along with most of the team. Everyone around the club was so disappointed.

3. How will you do this season?

John Sussex took over in March and he has now had the summer to build his own squad. He’s brought in some really good players and I will be happy with a mid table finish- I can't handle another season of looking over your shoulder at the other results.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I’m really looking forward to going to Histon. It will be a new ground to visit and we will get the chance to go there twice as Cambridge City play there too.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

I think it has to be AFC Sudbury as they always make you feel very welcome.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

It's got to be Bowers and Pitsea. There has always been rivalry over the years between the clubs, and it was nice to play local derbies against them last year. I will miss those games.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Our ground is quite a distance from local public transport, so if you are coming that way you will need to plan your journey beforehand.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

It's got to be Marcus Bowers, because his 35 goals got us back into the North Division- and his winner against Redbridge sealed it for us in our final game of the season. The man is a legend now at Basildon.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Maldon & Tiptree, Heybridge Swifts, Aveley, Coggeshall Town, Canvey Island.

[b]Right, that’s your lot, there will be no more! Tomorrow we’ll run the predicted North Division table, followed by the South Central and South East on Saturday morning before the big kick off. Then on Sunday, we’ll bring you your favourite grounds. Thanks to all who have got involved over the last month or so.

Where next?
