Bridges take a step closer to a 3G future

Council agree to bridge the funding gap at Jubilee Field

Pitching In Isthmian South East side Three Bridges announced in December 2022 that they hoped to install a 3G pitch at Jubilee Field- and it seems that their hopes are about to come to fruition, after the local council agreed to add up to one hundred thousand pounds to the club 3G fund.

When the club launched their appeal, Chairman Paul Faili explained the reasons behind it:

'The advantage of a 3G pitch, from a community perspective, is that we can open our arms wider and invite more people in. Facilities in Crawley are shockingly bad, and I know the council do their very very best, but to have a new, enclosed and properly looked after facility is massively important to the community. I'm not talking about the elite athletes, I'm talking about the kid that just wants to have a kick about on a Sunday morning and perhaps has no money. We've already got four hundred children here, and it's very easy to talk about helping children, but we actually need to do something.'

Since then, Bridges have done more than something- they've done almost everything, raising a large sum themselves and applying for and getting approved a large grant from the Football Foundation. They then asked Crawley Borough Council whether they could help with the balance, and the local authority have agreed to cover it, up to 100k.

In a statement, the council explain:

'We had little hesitation in approving the request from Three Bridges FC for a grant to help it install an all-weather pitch, it will be a valuable community asset and allow the club offer more football development activities.'

Congratulations to all at the club- the end of your quest is in sight, and the new pitch will be a fitting reward for all of your hard work.
