FA Cup 'Golden Boot' race starts today

Pitching In Isthmian League players about to pull on their boots for today's FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round have an extra incentive to do well- their goals could earn them the FA Cup Golden Boot!

Generally, any awards given out tend to focus on the professionals, and lists of the top scorers in the competition only start from the First Round, but this season- the One Hundred and Fiftieth anniversary of the competition- things will be different. The FA have confirmed:

'The Emirates FA Cup Golden Ball in partnership with Mitre will coincide with the 150th anniversary of the competition and be awarded to the player that scores the most goals from its extra preliminary round on Saturday 7 August 2021 through to the Final at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Saturday 14 May 2022.'
