Football Tuesday

We’ve matches in Pitching In isthmian South Central and the Velocity Cup this evening. Here’s what you can watch.

We’ve two big matches in prospect in Pitching In Isthmian South Central this evening- and they could leave us with new leaders.

Ascot United have had a fine start to the campaign, and find themselves three points away from top spot and with five consecutive wins in all competitions- five matches in which they’ve scored fourteen goals. The Yellas play host to another side in form, Leatherhead, who hit six on the road at Herne Bay on Saturday and remain unbeaten in the League. A win tonight for the Tanners would see them leap from fourth to first, displacing current leaders Raynes Park Vale.

Westfield have yet to deliver a league victory, but after three matches without scoring put that right with some style on Saturday, hitting Littlehampton Town for four in the FA Trophy. They are back at Woking Park this evening, Uxbridge the visitors- and Uxbridge also have a chance to go top. So far the reds have won both of their league matches- but they’ve hit a bit of a sticky patch in cups competitions, departing FA Cup and FA Trophy against South East opposition last week.

We’ve also got six matches in the Velocity Cup. In the First Round, Bowers & Pitsea will hope to make it four matches unbeaten as they welcome Maldon & Tiptree, the Jammers hoping for a return to normality after conceding eleven goals in their last two cup matches. East Grinstead Town are also hoping for a change of fortune, the Wasps having lost their last five matches in all competitions. They host South Park Reigate, who got back to winning ways against South East opposition in the FA Trophy at the weekend.

The Second Round sees a side with a one hundred percent record in all competitions, Brightlingsea Regent- six matches, six victories- welcome Grays Athletic, who are yet to win a match and will be fielding their Under 23’s in this one, the decision of boss Mark Stimson announced a couple of days ago.

Erith & Belvedere will hope to get back to winning ways as the welcome North Division Basildon United, the Bees impressive in a five-three win at Welwyn Garden City on Saturday; whilst we’ve a clash of two South Central promotion hopefuls as Northwood welcome Marlow. The Woods lost for the first time this season, in the Trophy at Ramsgate on Saturday, whilst Marlow haven’t lost since the opening day, and indeed have won their last six in all competitions.

Finally we’ve a Sussex derby, South East leaders Three Bridges welcoming Burgess Hill Town to Jubilee Field. Bridges are five unbeaten and hit Beckenham Town for five in the FA Trophy at the weekend, whilst Hill haven’t yet found consistency, following a giant killing over Bognor Regis Town in the cup with Trophy defeat to Hythe in their last two.
