Hill boss departs

Burgess Hill Town part company with manager Jay Lovett

Burgess Hill Town got back to winning ways at local rivals Haywards Heath Town last night, climbing out of the relegation zone as a result- but it seems that it was too late to save boss Jay Lovett, who has been announced as departing the club this afternoon.

Jay has been in charge at the Green Elephants Stadium since November 2019, so has had only one full season in the role, his side finishing eighth last season- four points behind the top five. This season has been far tougher, and prior to last night's victory Hill had slipped into the bottom four after eight matches without a win.

He was previously in charge at South Park, and as a player turned out for the likes of Brentford, Plymouth Argyle, Crawley Town, Lewes, Eastbourne Borough and Met Police.
