McFarlane wants first home win after trophy exit

Hornchurch manager Jimmy McFarlane is urging his side to put Saturday’s FA Trophy defeat to Wimborne Town behind them by winning for the first time in the Ryman Premier at Bridge Avenue on Tuesday night when they host Met Police.

McFarlane’s men go into the match off the back of the disappointing 4-2 weekend loss to the EVO-STIK League Southern Division One South & West outfit in the third qualifying round and he is looking for his side to bounce back at the first opportunity by finally breaking their home hoodoo.

McFarlane, pictured, told www.romfordrecorder.co.uk on Monday: "The longer it is after a defeat the harder it is to get over it. But before Saturday we had only lost two games in 12. It would be nice to get that first home league win."

The home clash against the Met is the first of five successive league matches at the Bridge and McFarlane is looking for his side to get points on the board to quickly start climbing away from trouble.

He added: "If we can average two points a game then we will move out of the relegation zone. Our aim is to win all of them games, but when you are down the bottom that is difficult."
