From Robins to Gulls for full back Sam Mvemba

Canvey Island have announced the signing of Carshalton Athletic full back Sam Mvemba.

Sam has only been with the Robins since the summer, and indeed was on the bench as Athletic drew at his new club as recently as Saturday. He has made nine appearances this season.

He ended last season with Brightlingsea Regent, where he played seven times. He was previously with Aveley, Bishop's Stortford, Welling United and Romford.

Sam made thirty seven appearances for the Millers during the 2019-20 season, making the number three shirt his own and playing an enormous part in their run to the Quarter Finals of the FA Trophy and their climb to second place in the North Division. That followed forty two appearances in 2018-19, as the club got to the Semi-Finals of the playoffs.

He then moved over to Stortford in the summer of 2020, made thirteen appearances, and was a vital part of their run to the FA Cup First Round during the 20-21 campaign, before climbing a level to Welling United where our season came to an early end. He spent a large part of last season suffering from injury prior to his Regent spell.
