Pitching In Isthmian League- supporters predictions 2021-22: Tilbury

By Ian Townsend

You’ve seen the North Division predicted table, but how does Tilbury supporter Ben Pearce expect his team to do? See below.

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-20 (or 22) will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off. Ben the Docker gives you his views.

1. Thinking about last season- what there was of it- were there any highlights for you?

My personal highlight was the 3-0 victory over Aveley. For a few (incomplete) seasons now we have been battling each other so to win at Parkside felt brilliant.

2. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 2021-22 campaign?

We have a number of very talented players. This year I am hoping our midfielders show how good they are! Lee Noble, Billy Crook, Lewis Smith are key to us having a successful season.

3. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Promotion. It is an exceptionally competitive league but I think we have the players and management team to get promoted.

4. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Grays Athletic is my favourite clash, so much rivalry and history. After that, Maldon. Some fantastic battles have been had over the last few years. Both great games and both clubs run by nice people.

5. What is your favourite away ground?

Coggeshall. The food is brilliant, and the pitch is always in top condition.

6. Who do you consider your biggest rivals- and why?

It is such a competitive league, there is probably 6 sides who could get promoted but Maldon are our biggest threats.

7. What advice would you give to any away supporter visiting you for the first time?

Come and enjoy. It should be our last season at Chadfields before our history-rich ground is demolished.

8. Who is your favourite player of all time (for your club)- and why?

Tony Macklin, Fantastic player. A local lad with an undoubted ability. Could have and should have played much higher. Remembered very fondly by a lot of our fans.

9. Who will be in the top five at the end of the season?

Tilbury, Maldon & Tiptree, Aveley, Canvey Island & Heybridge Swifts.

Look out for the final predicted tables later this week!
