Three points separate the top four as it’s three without a win for the Urchins

By Ian Townsend

Enfield Town and Hornchurch have to settle for a point each on Donkey Lane

Pitching In Isthmian Premier leaders Hornchurch continue to look vulnerable, and last night the Urchins managed to hold onto a lead for less that sixty seconds as Enfield Town hit back to claim a draw. Just before the break the Urchins took the lead, Liam Nash turning home a cross for his twenty first of the campaign- and scoring in three games in a row. The visitors had hardly finished celebrating, however, when Johnville Renee charged forward, played a one-two with Andre Coker, and delivered an immediate response.

After the break the Urchins leading scorer Sam Higgins saw one chance go wide and another saved, whilst at the other end a free kick from Lyle Della-Verse was cleared off the line, but both sides had to be satisfied with a point.

The top four now has the Urchins a point clear of Bishop’s Stortford, with Canvey Island and Aveley two points further back. Each side has five matches left to play. The run in for Hornchurch looks like this:

Sat 1 Apr A Horsham
Sat 8 Apr H Billericay Town
Mon 10 Apr A Carshalton Athletic
Sat 15 Apr H Bowers & Pitsea
Sat 22 Apr A Kingstonian

Bishop’s Stortford have to take on two of their top five rivals:

Sat 1 Apr A Carshalton Athletic
Sat 8 Apr A Aveley
Mon 10 Apr H Brightlingsea Regent
Sat 15 Apr H Enfield Town
Sat 22 Apr A Herne Bay

Canvey Island also play three of their matches on the road- and as well as taking on Aveley must host Lewes, who may still be firmly in the play off picture and will be looking to avenge a recent defeat.
Sat 1 Apr A Wingate & Finchley
Sat 8 Apr A Kingstonian
Mon 10 Apr H Aveley
Sat 15 Apr A Folkestone Invicta
Sat 22 Apr H Lewes

Aveley will have to ensure they aren’t distracted by an upcoming cup final- they face Potters Bar Town in the Velocity Cup on April 5th. Perhaps more of an issue, however, is that they face three of the top five!

Sat 1 Apr A Haringey Borough
Sat 8 Apr H Bishop's Stortford
Mon 10 Apr A Canvey Island
Sat 15 Apr H Horsham
Sat 22 Apr A Enfield Town
