Tuesday's Ryman Premier action review

By David Watters

In-form Needham Market moved into seventeenth place in the Ryman Premier on Tuesday night and to within a point of Staines Town after beating the Swans 2-0 at Wheatsheaf Park, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Suffolk visitors came into the game having won five of their last six matches and looked a confident outfit.

But it wasn`t until right on the stroke of half-time that they eventually made the breakthrough when, after a series of corners, Staines `keeper Jack Turner parried a Keiran Morphew effort onto the bar, only for Ollie Mann to net the rebound from close range.

Staines came into the game more in the second period without seriously testing Danny Gay in the Market goal. And eight minutes from time Mark Morsley`s side won it with a second goal on the counter-attack when Callum Harrison set up Michael Brothers to fire home. Brothers almost made it 3-0 near the end but his lob came back off the woodwork.
