Leatherhead last night announced that their new manager, after an exhaustive search led by Director of Football Mick Sullivan, is Ashford Town boss- or now former Ashford Town boss- Luke Tuffs.
Luke joined the Tangerines in April 2020, and his last game in charge was yesterday's victory over South Park, a result which left his side in tenth place in the Pitching In Isthmian South Central Division.
He moved to Town from Combined Counties side Knaphill- who were in third place when the 2019-20 season came to a premature end, ten points off top spot with three matches in hand.
Luke joined Knaphill in May 2019, taking his first role as a number one after being a big part of Hartley Wintney's successful climb up the pyramid, where he took on roles as First Team Coach, Head Coach and Youth Team Manager. He is UEFA B licenced coac, and is currently undertaking his A licence.
Mick told the Tanners website:
"Luke was extremely passionate and energetic in the interview and being from Surrey demonstrated a sound knowledge of local clubs and contacts that we feel will be invaluable moving forward. That coupled with the work he has already done at Hartley Wintney and most recently at Ashford Town made him the stand out candidate amongst a very strong talent pool. We look forward to him starting and know that our fantastic supporters will give him their full support”.
