Vickers and Nuts and Bolts clash- with both desperate for points

By Ian Townsend

A critical Good Friday match in Pitching In Isthmian South East- and it kicks off at 2PM

The two sides meeting at Oakwood on Friday are both desperate for points, if for entirely different reasons.

A win for hosts VCD Athletic would propel them out of the bottom four, and after one win from their last fifteen matches they very much need to regain that winning feeling. It has not been much fun to be Vickers supporter during 2023, as only a one-nil win over Lancing on March 18th has sprinkled a little sunshine into almost constant gloom. Vickers will need to quickly regain their best form, as three of their final four matches are against sides who still have promotion pretentions- and the other is against East Grinstead Town, who aren't quite safe yet.

Visitors Ashford United have different worries. A win tomorrow would thrust them into the top five- but it's so close in the race for the top five that defeat may have significant implications. The Nuts and Bolts have been in good form, with only one defeat from ten, but they'll view this as a potential banana skin they'll want to avoid.

By the way, the last side that Athletic defeated before beginning their terrible run of form? Yes, of course, Ashford United- a Soul Kader goal earning three points at Homelands on Saturday December 10th.
