Wedgeworth is a Wasp!

Peter heads to East Grinstead Town

East Grinstead Town have announced the signing of former Tooting & Mitcham United, Merstham, Walton Casuals, Whitstable Town, Ramsgate and- most recently- Whyteleafe defender Peter Wedgeworth.

Full back and free-kick specialist Wedgeworth was an important part of Tooting's promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division in 2017, and rejoined his former manager at Imperial Fields, Frank Wilson, at Merstham last summer. He made eleven appearances for the Moatsiders before moving along to Whyteleafe, where he made fifteen more, scoring twice.

His new manager Leigh Dynan explained:

"He is a player I have followed and been up against on numerous occasions. I've tried to sign him before but couldn't get it over the line- but I'm delighted to bring him in. He is an experienced leader, one of the best if not the best left back playing in this league, and I'm looking forward to working with him in the coming season."
