Wednesday Night football

All roads lead to Walthamstow (but get the train) and Ramsgate tonight

We've two opportunities for you to get your midweek football fix tonight- one in Pitching In Isthmian North, the other in the Velocity Cup.

In the North Division, Walthamstow could go top of the table if they can defeat Witham Town. The two sides have already played this match but only managed to play half of it, the score at one-one when rain- on 26th August, go figure- called a halt to play, so tonight they will start with a clean slate and hope to complete the entire ninety minutes! Walthamstow have won both league matches so far, both on the road; whilst Town are looking for their first league win (but to be fair, they've only played twice!). The visitors will hope for a similar performance to that which saw them defeat Maldon & Tiptree in the FA Trophy at the weekend, and also hope that striker Jeffrey Cobblah can add to the five goals he already has this season (six, if you count his goal in the original match between the sides, but sadly we can't).

In the Velocity Cup we have a Kentish derby between two of the sides most fancied for Pitching In Isthmian South East promotion, Ramsgate and Ashford United. The Rams have won their last five matches in all competitions, and already have golden boot winner Joe Taylor on top form, with eight goals in six matches. The Nuts and Bolts, who have been permanently on the road due to delays with the installation of a new pitch at Homelands, hit Binfield for seven in the FA Trophy on Saturday and will be no pushovers. The Rams won both encounters between the sides last season, but had lost the four prior to that. The last time the two sides met in the Velocity Cup was four years ago this month, the Rams triumphing on penalties after a goalless draw.
