We’ve a Premier relegation battle, whilst in Pitching In Isthmian North, Bury Town hope to go third

Our match in Pitching In Isthmian Premier this evening is of enormous importance to both sides. Kingstonian prop up the rest and are eight points from safety, whilst their visitors, Cheshunt, occupy the last relegation space but know that they will climb out of the bottom four with victory.

The K’s have looked much improved of late, a win over Bognor Regis Town and a draw with Enfield Town followed by narrow defeat against Cray Wanderers on Saturday, but such is the margin between them and safety you’d have to think that three points tonight is a must- and that win would be particularly valuable given that, rather than a play off chaser, they are taking on one of their relegation rivals.

We perhaps didn’t expect Cheshunt to find themselves in the bottom four given they spent last season in National League South, but the table doesn’t lie and it explains that they’ve lost eighteen of their twenty nine matches this season and won only six. Many of those defeats have been rather narrow, which perhaps explains why they have a better goal difference than the rest of the bottom five, but that doesn’t get them any more points! They’ve played two games fewer than fifth bottom Margate and will go ahead of them with victory, but will also be aware that Concord Rangers are currently only two points behind them having played three games fewer.

With only four points from the last thirty available, this looks a must-win for the visitors too.

The K’s haven’t defeated the Ambers in six attempts, and the last time the two sides met they produced one of our games of the season, Cheshunt coming from two-nil down to somehow win five-four.

In Pitching In Isthmian North we head to Great Yarmouth, where Gorleston entertain Bury Town. The visiting Blues have been on a magnificent run, having taken a colossal twenty eight points from their last ten matches, and are unbeaten for more than three months- but postponements have seen them kick their heels for two and a half weeks. Striker Cemal Ramadan is in superb form, and will be looking to score in his eighth match in a row- he has twenty four for the season. Three more points would send them third.

The Greens have lost only two of their last ten, although both of those defeats have arrived in their last four, the latest of them at Witham Town on Saturday, where a ninety fifth minute goal consigned them to a three-two loss. Comfortable in mid table, victory tonight would lift them into the top ten.

The sides drew two-two at Ram Meadow earlier in the season. Last season’s encounters saw both sides win on their travels.
