Woods open a gap

Northwood's winning run continues- whilst Binfield, Walton, South Park and Chertsey lead the chasing pack. It's our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up

It’s four games, four wins and a two point lead for Northwood, who maintained their one hundred percent record with a two-nil win over Southall. A goal in each half did the damage; Josh Helmore with the opener four minutes before the break, Luke Tingey with the clincher sixteen minutes from time.

Binfield continued their fine run with a second half double at Basingstoke Town. The hosts had scored ten goals in their last two matches, but couldn’t add any more against the Moles, for whom Connor Holland and Sean Moore scored on fifty seven and ninety minutes. That’s three for Moore and two for Holland for the season so far, and a fourth clean sheet from five. Five hundred and sixty watched on, and our image comes from Neil Graham- more here.

Walton & Hersham are in third after becoming the latest side to win at Fetcham Grove. Promotion favourites Leatherhead have now played three home matches in the league and lost them all, and two second half goals- from Taureen Roberts on sixty four minutes and John Gilbert right at the end- sent most of the five hundred and five watching on home unhappy.

Merstham’s campaign continued to shudder along, with another defeat- this one against South Park Reigate. The Moatsiders got their noses in front on thirty eight minutes, but a twelve minute double midway through the second half from Mario Quiassaca saw the Sparks climb to fourth- and left their hosts at the bottom of the table with one point.

Chertsey Town scored for fun on Saturday, and given they knocked opponents Hanworth Villa out of the cup recently must have been confident of three more points. They got only one, however, and they had to come from behind to get that, after Duncan Culley gave the Villains a seventeenth minute lead. The equaliser came from Kieran Murphy nine minutes after the break, and five hundred and eighty seven watched him score it. The Curfews are fifth- and that’s three draws from four for Villa.

Ashford Town saw Nash Doukoure give them their third successive win- and fifth unbeaten game in all competitions- with the only goal of the game against Bedfont Sports in a Heathrow derby. Sports are still searching for their first victory.

Two late goals ensured that Uxbridge got back to winning ways, as Thatcham Town came to call. Alan Hedley gave them the lead with just eighteen minutes remaining, and with seven minutes left Alex Witham made it two-nil to secure eighth place for his side.

Sutton Common Rovers bounced back from their hammering against Chertsey Town to record a fine victory at previously undefeated Marlow. A first half double from Tony Halsey gave them a cushion, and although Nawaf Naheer-Omar got one back for the hosts fourteen minutes from time, Rovers held on to go eleventh.

Tooting & Mitcham United got their first win of the campaign, defeating Guernsey in the Channel Islands. Enoch Ako-Adjei opened the scoring for the Terrors after just two minutes, and the killer blow came from Eddie Mbango five minutes from time as the Green Lions continue to look for a first win of their own.

Chipstead got their first win of the season, as the only goal of the game delivered a second consecutive defeat for former leaders Westfield. It came seven minutes from time, and it went to Jonathan Gjoshe for the Chips, who are up to fourteenth.
